Connect a custom domain

Add your own domain under Workspace → Domains, create the A record the app asks for, and wait for the status to change from Pending to Connected.

Serve your landing pages from your own domain instead of a genpa.ge link. You add the domain under Workspace → Domains, create one DNS record at your domain provider, and GenPage checks the record and sets up the certificate for you.

Before you start

  • You need the Owner or Admin role. Domains only appears in the sidebar for those roles.
  • Custom domains are a paid feature. On the current plans they are included from Pro upward: the upgrade page lists Custom Domains under Pro, Scale and Ultimate. If your plan does not include them, the Domains page shows Custom Domains require Scale plan, and owners get an Upgrade Plan button there.
  • Use a subdomain that is dedicated to GenPage, for example try.example.com, not the root of your website.

Add the domain

  1. Open Workspace → Domains in the sidebar and click Add Domain.

  2. Click DNS Setup Guide to see the record you have to create. At your domain provider, add an A record: Name is the subdomain you want to use (the guide shows try as an example), Value/Data is 34.226.84.124, and TTL is 600 seconds. The copy icon next to the address copies it.

  3. In the Connect Domain dialog, type the full domain under Domain Name, the subdomain plus your domain, such as try.example.com, without https://. Click Check Connection. The button reads Checking... while GenPage looks up your DNS record.

  4. The dialog closes and the domain appears in the table. Right after you add it the Status is usually Pending, and a message tells you that the DNS configuration may take a few minutes to propagate. If the record was already in place, the status is Connected straight away.

What happens next

GenPage re-checks every pending domain about every ten minutes. Once every A record for the name points to 34.226.84.124, it issues the certificate and confirms that the domain answers over https. The status then changes to Connected; reload the Domains page to see it. What each status means is explained in SSL certificates and domain status, and if it stays Pending, see Domain not verifying.

To publish on the domain, open the campaign in the editor, click Page settings in the toolbar and pick the domain under Custom Domain. The campaign's published link then uses your domain instead of genpa.ge.
