Connect Microsoft Teams

Sign in with a Microsoft work account under Configure → Integrations and pick the Teams channels GenPage should post visitor and form alerts to.

· For owners and admins

On this page

Connecting Microsoft Teams lets GenPage post a message into a Teams channel whenever an alert fires, for example when a lead opens their page or submits a form. You sign in with a Microsoft work account once per workspace under Configure → Integrations, pick the channels alerts should go to, then switch on the Microsoft Teams channel in the alert settings. You can add as many channels as you like and route each alert type to a different one.

Before you start

  • You need the Owner or Admin role in the GenPage workspace.
  • You need a Microsoft work or school account that is a member of the teams you want to post to. GenPage asks that account for permission to see its teams and channels and to post messages in channels; it cannot read messages. Some organisations require an IT admin to approve new apps, in which case Microsoft says so on the sign-in screen.
  • Alerts appear in Teams as posted by the account you sign in with, so use a shared or service account if you'd rather not have them show under your own name.

Connect the workspace

  1. Open Configure → Integrations and click the Microsoft Teams row.

  2. The Microsoft Teams dialog opens. Under Connection Status it says that the workspace is not connected yet. Click Connect Microsoft Teams.

  3. Microsoft opens in a new browser tab. Pick the work account to use, sign in if you have to, and accept the permissions.

  4. Microsoft sends you to a GenPage page that reads Microsoft Teams connected when the sign-in is stored. You can close that tab and return to the app. If the page reads Connection Failed, try again from the Microsoft Teams row; the message on the page says what went wrong.

  5. Back in the app, the dialog now reads Connected as your account. Under Add a channel, choose a Team, then a Channel, and click Add channel. The channel appears under Connected channels. Repeat for every channel you want alerts in.

Turn on Teams alerts

  1. Open Configure → Alerts in the settings sidebar. Under Channels, switch on the Microsoft Teams row. Your connected channels are listed beneath it, with the first one marked Default.

  2. Under Alert types, a Teams channel column appears in the routing table. Switch each alert type on or off for Teams and, with more than one channel connected, pick which channel each type goes to. Click Save Settings in the page header.

  3. The message GenPage posts is the Slack & Teams template for that alert type under Templates on the same page; Teams and Slack share it. Templates are described in Alerts.

If alerts stop arriving

If the Microsoft account's password changes, an admin revokes GenPage's access, or the sign-in goes unused for a long time, Microsoft signs the account out of GenPage. The Microsoft Teams dialog then shows a warning and a Sign in again button; your channels are kept, and alerts resume once someone signs in.

Remove a channel or disconnect

To stop posting to one channel, click the bin icon next to it, either in the Microsoft Teams dialog or in the channel list under Channels on the Alerts page. Alert types routed to it fall back to your default channel.

To disconnect Microsoft Teams entirely, open the Microsoft Teams row and click Disconnect. This signs the Microsoft account out of GenPage and removes every connected channel; the Microsoft Teams row in the alert settings goes back to Connect Microsoft Teams.
